with cal trans and they told us how they have 300 cameras across the bay area counties that are focused on the roadways and the bridges. a lot of the sensors in the roadways help let them know when there is a traffic situation like the truck behind me. this is what we know. gusty winds knocked over the big rig on the richmond san rafael bridge blocking both eastbound lanes. according to the chp, the truck was heading east along the midspan before 5:00 a.m. when heavy winds caused a vehicle to roll over. when the truck slammed against the rail, the driver was slammed on his side and had to crawl out of the truck's cabin. cars are now passing the scene of the crash on the roadways -- roadway's right shoulder. back live, you can see the guys have started to disassemble the drive shaft of the truck because they have to take that off before they can put the truck back over, and they were waiting for the wind to die down. no one was injured in the collision. not the driver of the truck or any other vehicle. again, we are live in the san rafael -- the richmond san rafael bridge. we are now goi
reservoir. it's right next to us, next to hay way 17. it's the largest rainwater reservoir in the santa clara valley water district and it's currently at 63% capacity. as you might guess, it's a different scene across the bay area. we have video from yesterday in marin county where water, if you can believe, was rationed once in the early '90s, but now the lake near mt. tam is full. it's overflowing. it's the a same for bon tempe dam. rushing water is cascadinger the top into alpine lake below. reservoirs don't typically top off until april. >> all of our reservoirs have reached capacity. that's the earliest that we have done that sense 1983. >> the earliest capacity reached in nearly 30 years in marin county. in san francisco the public utilities commission tells us its reservoirs are at 83% of capacity, east bay muds, five reservoirs are at a combined 85% capacity. district officials in santa clara say the reservoir in morgan hill is expect today overflow its surplus for the next week. reporting live in los gatos, abc7 news. >>> kera, thank you. >>> two people are dead of a getting wa

midnight for us. the epicenter was off the north eastern coast of japan. the shaking could be felt across most of the country. the quake shook many buildings where people were working this is video of the news agency in tokyo where the lights were situation people held on to their computers. 45 minutes after that quake, a small tsunami came ashore in the city of ing give with waves about three feet, -- no damage. before the quake television broke too programming warning a strong quake was due to hit after it did warnings came for those living near the coast to flee to higher ground that warning has been lifted across north eastern japan. it is the same region hit by last year's massive quake which killed 20,000 and gathered the world's worst nuclear crisis, leaking radiation into the sea and air this morning the power company reports that no problems have been seen at any of their nuclear plants. officials are still assessing the damage. we are hearing that several were hurt, we are monitoring to find out where those reports are coming from. cornell bernard, abc7 news. >>> let's get a che

supplies are in good shape because of all of this. the san francisco public utility commission tells us it's reservoirs are at 83% of capacity. east bay, five reservoirs, a combined 85%. and one of the santa clara valley water district's biggest rainwater reservoirs, the lexington, is at 63%. still room for rain down there. >>> two people are dead of a getting washed into the water on the marin side of the golden gate bridge yesterday afternoon. a third person was able to make it back to shore and call 911. the coast barred and the tiburon fire department were not able to save a man and boy who were spotted in the water near the north tower of the golden gate bridge. sky 7hd was overhead as the rescue boats returned with both victims on board. their bodies were recovered just after five. they were pronounced dead when they arrived at a coast guard station. >> the unit shortly arrived within 25 minutes and recovered two bodies, one male adult and one child. those subjects were later pronounced deceased. >> a high surf advisory was in effect at the time they got swept away. >>> police mate a

for a man who mugged a woman and then killed her dog. as abc7 news reporter tells us, a witness is offering a reward to catch the attacker. >> she was driving through on friday. she agreed to tell us what happened if we didn't reveal her identity because she's worried for her safety. she pulled over and couldn't find her phone and needed to look on the passenger side. >> so i got in my car and walked around. >> in the front seat was her dog, a 12-year-old dog. and he started barking because a man grabbed her. >> by the car and he took out my money. >> he turned his attention to the doc because he seemed angry that the victim only had $5.00 in her pocket. >> he looked at me with a blank look on his face, and he said i'm going to kill your [bleep] dog. >> after a struggle he snatched the dog out of the car. >> he put roxy over his head and threw her towards incoming traffic. >> roxy survived being thumped on the pavement but she was later put down because she cuffed major injuries. >> police are starting to collect data in the investigation. one witness saw it. >> she's really small and he wa

. terry mcsweeney has more. >> reporter: this guy delivered mail for the u.s. postal service in san mateo county, a lot of mail never got to the mailboxes where they were suppose go the person accused is 38-year-old row people -- romeo natan of san bruno. prosecutors say he's a first class felon, stole 3,000 pieces of mail information from that mail for credit cards, got 'em then went shopping. >> you and i as victims may not know there was a credit card envelope taken out of my mail and somebody fill it out and put my name on it and got a credit card >> it is sad because they are trusted to handle those things. it is bad enough people are stealing packages off porches, now you have to worry about the postal service, disheartening. allegedly gave credit cards to at least three of his friends. he appears in video at a target store using stolen credit cards, natan has pleaded not guilty he's being held on $150,000 bail. he will be in court today. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. >>> the san francisco woman charged with killing a pedestrian during a hit-and-run at twin peaks will be back in court
sacramento and ward streets where amy hollyfield joins us live with new information. >> reporter: the rain is coming down here in berkeley, it is raining hard, the investigators are still here, they are still looking for clues out here in the rain, we are the award and sacramento. they don't have much to go -- to go on, they've:here since 11:30 last night trying to find something. when police got here -- go here they didn't though they were dealing with a murder they heard a bicyclist was down they thought it was a crash. then they discovered the woman on the bike had been shot in the head. the lt. on the case tells me she did not have identification on her so they don't know who she is. he wouldn't speculate on her age. i asked for a range, teenager, elderly? he said somewhere in the middle. he didn't want to speculate any further. the coroner is now trying to figure out who she is. when police found her she was alone. they don't have suspects, they don't have witness. they've got quite a mystery trying to figure out who she is and who killed her and why? amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >>> al

intersection closed. good evening. thank you so much for joining us. i'm ama dates. we have live team coverage of our storm wach. lilian kim is on the peninsula where a creek over ran its banks. and there was lots of flooding in the north bay where cornell bernard is. we start with leigh glaser. leigh? >> what a difference about six, eight hours makes. live doppler 7hd, very active earlier this morning beginning at 7:00 a.m. as the cold front moved through. now you could barely even tell we had any rain at all. we are looking live now, folks, and you can see the receive rain has pushed on to the south and east of the bay area. still getting a few little sprinkles here and there between morgan hill and hollister. mainly at the higher elevations, but most of the rain, or actually all of the rain has moved out of the area. we did have quite a bit of rainfall. we still have a couple of river watches. these are river watches in affect until tomorrow morning. the river right now is at 27 feet. it looks like it will crest tomorrow morning below flood stage at 30 feet. the napa river in napa 23 feet r
